Baselines and Scenarios
The Baseline is your workspace’s current understanding of an asset. A what-if Scenario saves a hypothetical alternative for the same asset.
A Scenario saves complete inputs
The Configuration is the full set of model inputs for an asset: equipment, engineering properties, insurance, contract and finance terms, assumptions, defaults and selected measures. A Scenario saves all these values, not only the changes from the Baseline.
A Scenario can exist before a model run is complete. Saving inputs and getting calculated results are two separate steps. See model runs and result status.
Choose the context before you edit
- To correct the actual asset, edit its Baseline. The correction applies to the shared Workspace Asset in all portfolios of the workspace.
- To explore an alternative, edit a named what-if Scenario. Its inputs apply only to that alternative.
For example, if a deductible was recorded incorrectly, correct it in the Baseline. To test a higher deductible for a future insurance decision, use a what-if Scenario.
Viewing does not change anything
All analysis views read the same saved Configuration and calculated Results. When you open a Scenario or switch to a different view, the Baseline does not change and no model run starts.
Measures in a Scenario
A measure is a change to the asset, such as a resilience upgrade or a contract change. One Scenario can include several measures. See Evaluate resilience measures.
Information from documents
You can store an asset’s contracts with the asset. Values extracted from a document do not change the model inputs until they are in the Baseline or a Scenario. Always check the inputs in the Baseline.
Contract AI extracts values from uploaded insurance, contract and financial documents. Review the extracted values against the documents.
