Digital Twin
A digital twin represents an asset's physical systems, commercial relationships and market context. It connects what happens to equipment with the consequences for production, costs and revenue. Where actual asset details are unknown, the model can include default assumptions.
One twin, three views
The illustrative demo presents three connected views of the same asset:
| View | What it helps you understand |
|---|---|
| Asset Twin | What equipment is present, how components connect, what they are worth and how hazards can affect them. |
| Commercial Twin | Who owns, finances, operates and insures the asset, and how agreements allocate payments and responsibilities. |
| Market Twin | How electricity reaches the grid and how delivery, prices and settlement affect revenue. |
For example, damage to equipment can reduce electricity output. The financial consequences depend on repair costs, insurance and contract terms, as well as the market conditions during the outage. The three views help connect those effects.
From components to the surrounding network
The demo uses three levels to show the asset in context:
- Asset: a unit and its components, such as a solar tracker block or wind turbine.
- Site: the full plant and its supporting infrastructure.
- Region: the surrounding grid and market, including connections to other plants and electricity consumers.
These levels describe the scope of the visualization. They do not indicate separate stages of analysis.
Hazards and resilience
The Asset Twin illustrates where equipment is exposed to a hazard and how its response can change with the hazard's magnitude. Resilience measures are linked to the parts they protect. This shows how a weak component can compromise protection across a larger system.
The demo's As built and Hardened cases illustrate changes to equipment and protection measures. Sample losses, costs and payback values explain the example; they are not results for your workspace assets.
Explore the illustrative demo
The demo uses sample assets, assumptions and simulated events. Its screens and controls illustrate the digital-twin concept and do not establish which features are available in the InfraSure platform.
