Model runs and result status
A Scenario contains inputs. A model run uses those inputs to calculate results. When you save a change, the new results are not always available at once.
Inputs, model runs, metrics and results
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Model | The method that calculates an outcome from inputs. |
| Model run | One calculation with a fixed set of inputs. |
| Metric | The definition and unit of a quantity, such as DSCR. See the Metrics dictionary. |
| Result | The calculated value of a metric for one run and context, such as a DSCR of 1.40x. |
When you compare results, check the asset, the Baseline or Scenario, and the result status.
When a run starts
A run starts when you confirm new inputs, or when you request detailed modeling for an asset. Viewing never starts a run: opening a Scenario or switching a view shows existing results. The action that confirms inputs depends on the screen. The Guides give the steps for each screen.
In this workflow, a change to a field or a selected measure does not start a run. You save several edits together. Each save starts one recalculation.
Read the Updating state
The Updating label is part of the beta save-to-recalculate workflow.
While new results are calculated, the previous results stay visible with an Updating label. These numbers come from the previous calculation. Do not use them as results for the inputs you just saved.
A Scenario can also have no calculated results yet.
Benchmark estimates and asset runs
A benchmark estimate does not need an asset-specific run. See Benchmark and asset-specific results.
