Read the headline metrics

InfraSure shows four headline metrics for each asset and portfolio. Read the unit, the result type and the scope with every number. Similar labels can use different probability conventions or aggregation methods. For the exact definition, unit and aggregation of each metric, see the Metrics dictionary.

Hazard Loss (%)

What it tells you: the average yearly physical-damage loss as a share of asset value. Use it to compare assets of different sizes.

Example: a Hazard Loss of 1.71% on an asset value of $355.9M is about $6.1M per year on average. This does not mean that the plant loses $6.1M every year.

For a portfolio: the portfolio value is capacity-weighted. It is not the same as total expected dollar loss divided by total asset value. To get the total expected dollar loss, add the EAL of each asset.

Climate VaR ($, P95)

What it tells you: a severe-year physical-damage loss for one asset. There is a 5% probability each year that the loss is larger. It does not include the revenue lost after the damage.

For a portfolio: Total Climate VaR adds the Climate VaR of each asset. It is not the P95 loss of the portfolio as a whole, because InfraSure does not model how losses at different sites move together.

Probabilities are not schedules

“One year in twenty” does not mean that a severe loss happens at regular twenty-year intervals.

Risked Revenue ($/MW-year)

What it tells you: a conservative estimate of merchant energy revenue per MW, from historical prices. Use it to compare assets under the same assumptions.

What it does not tell you: it is not a forecast of future prices, and it is not a revenue percentile. To assess debt capacity, use the contract terms, costs and a separate cash-flow analysis. See the Revenue model.

InfraRisk Index (0–100)

What it tells you: a weighted score across five risk families. A lower score means lower modeled risk under the selected weights.

What it does not tell you: the score is not a loss probability. The weights change the score. Compare scores only with the same risk profile and cohort. See InfraRisk Index and red flags.
