Review damage and coverage

Physical Damage Analysis shows expected losses, rare-loss estimates and a comparison with the displayed insurance assumptions.

Default policy

The analysis uses a default property policy with limits set for a 200 MW plant. Coverage labels do not confirm coverage under the asset’s actual contract.

Review the analysis

  1. Choose a PML return period: 100, 200 or 500 years.
  2. Read each hazard’s occurrence information, EAL and PML.
  3. Inspect the coverage status and policy limit used in the comparison.
  4. Use the Seasonal Pattern Heatmap to review when recorded events cluster.
  5. Open the hazard’s analysis for its frequency and exceedance charts.

Interpret the measures

Expected Annual Loss (EAL)

The mean yearly physical-damage loss across modeled years. An EAL of $1M does not mean the plant loses $1M every year.

Probable Maximum Loss (PML)

A modeled loss at the selected return period. A 1-in-500-year loss could occur next year: a return period is a probability, not a schedule.

Occurrence

How often recorded hazard events reach the site. No recorded events does not imply zero modeled loss.

Coverage status

Covered, Covered · Ded. or Excluded under the displayed policy assumptions.

Surplus

Policy limit minus PML. This arithmetic difference alone does not establish the amount an insurer would pay.

Loss ratio

Here, hazard EAL divided by asset value. It does not mean claims divided by premium.

Expected Total Annual Loss

The platform’s sum of EAL, Forced Outage Loss and Recovery Loss.
