Limitations
This page lists the limitations of all models in one place. Each model page also lists its own.
Benchmark and geography
- Results start from a standard benchmark asset. The design and value of the benchmark asset do not match every real plant. See Benchmark and asset-specific results.
- A grid cell represents an area, not the exact footprint of a plant.
- Detailed analysis can still include defaults. See Default assumptions.
Hazards and losses
- Solar assets include hail, convective wind, hurricane, wildfire and flood. Wind assets include convective wind and hurricane only. A hazard that is not modeled is not zero risk.
- Climate VaR does not include the revenue lost after damage.
- Total Climate VaR adds asset P95 losses. It is not the joint P95 loss of a portfolio, because losses at different sites are not modeled together.
Revenue
- Risked Revenue is not a forward price forecast. It combines different historical periods.
- P75 applies to the generation input only. Risked Revenue is not a revenue percentile.
- The curtailment adjustment is an estimate from negative-price hours, not a measurement of curtailed energy.
Future climate
- Future-climate factors change Hazard Loss only. Climate VaR and PML describe today’s climate.
- Future-climate views do not estimate revenue effects.
Scores and flags
- The InfraRisk Index is not a loss probability.
- Scores are comparable only with the same risk profile and cohort.
- A red-flag count of zero does not mean that every issue was checked.
Validation
- The validation checks cover selected inputs. They do not validate every result or decision. See Data sources and validation.
