Frequently asked questions
Use these answers to resolve common questions, then follow the linked explanation for more detail.
Why do two nearby plants have the same Hazard Loss?
Plants of the same technology in the same grid cell share a loss ratio for the benchmark asset. Dollar values can differ because they scale with capacity. See Benchmark and asset-specific results.
Why does the detailed result differ from the benchmark?
The benchmark uses a benchmark asset. Detailed analysis can use the exact site and more asset inputs. Review the assumptions in each result before comparing them.
Is Hazard Loss an insurance premium?
No. It is expected physical damage divided by asset value. Insurance pricing includes other considerations. The Profile premium is described as illustrative.
Does Climate VaR include lost revenue?
No. Climate VaR and Hazard Loss measure physical damage only. Expected Total Annual Loss also adds the platform’s forced-outage and recovery loss categories.
Is portfolio Total Climate VaR a portfolio P95?
It is the sum of individual asset P95 losses. It does not model the joint portfolio loss distribution. See the Metrics dictionary.
Does Climate VaR include future climate?
No. Future-climate views apply to Hazard Loss. Climate VaR and PML remain based on today’s climate.
Are the power prices a forecast?
No. The benchmark uses historical averages for 2010–2024. See revenue methodology.
Can I assess a site before it is built?
Yes. Create a prospective asset with a location, technology and capacity. It receives benchmark estimates. See build your portfolio.
Can I use my own PPA price and loan terms?
The Profile accepts a PPA price; Cashflow Configure accepts loan inputs. Review how the model applies those inputs and which other assumptions remain at defaults.
Can I change the risk ranking?
Choose a different profile or custom weights in Assess Settings. You can also select a comparison cohort and active red flags. Keep these settings consistent when comparing rankings.
Does putting one plant in two portfolios create two copies?
No. Both portfolios refer to one Workspace Asset. A Baseline correction affects the asset in both portfolios. Different workspaces have independent copies.
Do catalog updates overwrite my edits?
No. Catalog updates do not automatically change an existing Workspace Asset. This is also true for fields that nobody has edited.
Does opening a Scenario change Baseline?
No. Viewing a Scenario or switching an analysis view does not change Baseline. It also does not start a model run.
Why do I still see old results after saving?
A new calculation takes time. In the beta save-to-recalculate workflow, the previous results stay visible with an Updating label until the new results are ready. See model runs and result status.
Will a downloaded report change when I edit an asset?
No. A report is a fixed snapshot. Generate a new report to include later changes.
